Overview:
In recognition of the multiple facets and values of innovative approaches for food production in urban contexts, this volume aims to bring together latest knowledge on productive urban and peri-urban landscapes (PUPUL) and its multiple functions and contributions to food security, ecological sustainability, and social well-being. Our book aims to showcase the multiple contributions that PUPUL can provide in urban and peri-urban contexts, showcasing concepts such as urban agriculture, urban agroforestry, urban food forests, edible landscapes etc. emphasizing their potential to reshape urban landscapes sustainably. Furthermore, we want are interested into conceptual and practical applications, planning and governance modes that are suitable to support innovative PUPUL settings. We welcome concepts and case studies that cover the different challenges and demand across the world from the Global North to Global South.
The book project was launched in response to various symposia held during the IALE 2022 European Congress in Warsaw, Poland and the IALE 2023 World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya. However, we extend this invitation to anyone interested in the topic, irrespective of their participation in the symposia.
