Forschungsschwerpunkte
I’m interested in ecological research that informs conservation-driven city and landscape planning. My current focus is on urban ecosystems and understanding how local green and grey characteristics in cities affect bird communities. If planned accordingly, cities have the potential to host a high diversity and abundance of birds, which in turn benefits humans both mentally and physically through interactions with green spaces. I’m using a combination of terrestrial laser scanning and remote sensing data to derive vegetation characteristics such as structure, composition and complexity, as well as characteristics of the built environment such as imperviousness and building type. To assess bird species diversity and community composition I use bioacoustics and AI.
