Biography |
Chien Chen (1994) is currently a PhD candidate at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He earned his bachelor's degree in Forest Science from National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan. Driven by a deep interest in sustainable forestry, he pursued a master's degree in Sustainable Resource Management at TUM, specializing in forest management and landscape management. This academic path broadened his perspective on modern international approaches in forestry. Since 2022, Chien has been actively involved with the Chair of Forest Growth and Yield Science, where he contributed to pioneering research on mobile X-ray scanning systems in forest environments. His current research focuses on extracting internal traits from CT images and integrating sapwood features with crown traits obtained through terrestrial laser scanning. With the institutional changes at TUM in 2024, Chien's doctoral research will be further enriched by new insights from the Chair of Tree Growth and Wood Physiology, under the guidance of Prof. Peters. New aims will involve studying sapwood flow in conjunction with sapwood structures derived from mobile CT systems, while still maintaining the original objectives of his PhD research. |
