Biography |
João G. L. Martins (1999) is a Brazilian biologist from Ceará and a current PhD student at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He completed his Biology degree at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) and his MSc in Ecology at UNICAMP under Prof. Dr. Peter Stoltenborg Groenendyk. João has a strong background in dendrochronology, wood anatomy, and forest inventories, with field experience in both Seasonally Dry Tropical Forests (Caatinga) and the Brazilian Cerrado. His research includes dendrochronological studies of Amburana cearensis in managed Caatinga woodlands and monitoring Aspidosperma species in the Cerrado using dendrometers to assess water stress under contrasting soil conditions. At TUM, João investigates how different tree species respond to water stress along their geographic ranges, using high-resolution sensors and advanced methods to better understand species-specific growth dynamics and drought responses in temperate forests. |
